In my spare time (hah, ha!) I would really like to start some more soakers for John, just in case I get up the gumption to try cloth diapers.
The first one is just a mimic of the traditional one Nancy L made for him. (In fact, it is so easy, I just may stick with it.)
There are a few patterns I’m looking at on Raverly.

This is Adaptation by Connie Stults – isn’t it cute? I thought the garter stitch would soak up more liquid than any other stitch.
And this is the Little Seedling Soaker by Christine Blyden — so cute! Looks like the new cloth diapers!
Do any of you have favorite soaker patterns?

Have you seen this one: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/turtle-butt? I don’t even have a baby, but I’ve had this faved in Ravelry for awhile just because it is so dang cute. I hope your little guy is over the rash soon (if not already).

Hey, Christina! You should definitely get into cloth diapers – even if it is only the old-fashioned kind
. I think I’m about at the end of it now, since my daughter seems eager to potty train these past two weeks, but I’ve enjoyed doing things the “old-fashioned” way. Besides, what can be more gratifyingly quick to knit than soakers? Lots and lots of soakers. In fact, they constitute fully half of my (unimpressive) number of knitting projects
. The Just Jussie (on Ravelry) knitted soaker is fun and different, with a doubled center, but you’ll have to see if the size will fit your little one, since I think she only published it one or two sizes. My fall-back is the Flowerpot Tots (also on Ravelry) pattern, which is the easiest flat-knit soaker I’ve done. There are lots of patterns for knitting in the round, though, which I’m sure are just as good. Good luck!
