The weather has been unbelievable this week. Warm, sunny & dry. It makes you pinch yourself just to check that you’re still alive and not living in paradise. The flowering trees have been spectacular and liven up the air with their sensuous perfume. Yes, I do have to take a Claritin every morning to survive this time of year, but honestly, it is worth it. This is an amazing season.

I’ve been spending the afternoons out on the back deck. It is the time of day when John is the fussiest and I am the most tired from running around all day. So it is the time I have designated as the “Walker Tea Time.” John gets to tottle around in his walker and I get to sit out under the umbrella and enjoy a cup of tea and a sit & knit. It’s worked out perfectly twice this week — other times he tottles and drops toys, tottles and gets stuck, tottles and gets tired. =)

One thing we have been really enjoying is eating dinner out on the deck. The long daylight hours in the evening have made us linger at the dinner table and enjoy a glass of wine which then merges into a cup of tea. It’s been nice!

Hi everyone,
well, I didn’t get the individual pattern for the Lamb’s Lace Mitts up yesterday like I planned. Instead I went for a visit to Stitches & Scones with Baby John. That was fun! Although Baby John was a little pistol. He’s a mama’s boy and I’m trying to socialize him…. ah, well, I’ve got my work cut out for me.
But there are up on Ravelry the mitts and the shawl

Kristen Nicholas' Quarter's Cap
About a week ago I was reading my favorite knitting inspiration blog – Getting Stitched On the Farm. Kristen Nicholas was talking about the Quarter’s Cap she designed using short rows and garter stitch. I just had to knit it. I hopped on her website and bought the pattern. OH. MY. GOODNESS. This hat is quite addictive. It is mindlessly fun to knit.
I made the above hat for Lil John. It came out a little bit too big. I’ve begun another on smaller needles and I think it will be just right. I have to remember that Lil John is a little bit smaller than other babies and the “infant” size doesn’t always fit!
If you are looking for a fun way to use up bits and pieces of yarn — this is it!
Happy Knitting!

Regina Cardi
Regina has been available for purchase on Ravelry for a little while. But it is now finally available in my online shop! It is a fun knit and amazing to wear (very figure forgiving – perfect for me since I still don’t have my prebaby figure back.)

Ready for New Year's Eve
On New Year’s Eve, JK, Baby John and I headed out to a party. We were supposed to wear hats that described our hopes and dreams for 2010. I decided to wear a whole outfit — do I look like any famous knitters you might know? You can’t see them very well, but my tam has a pair of Addi natura needles stuck into the front. My hope and dream for the new year isĀ to make it through this big project I started – Knitting Zimmermann

JK'a Hat
JK’s hat was great. He had a “Press Card” stuck in one side of his fedora. On the other side he had a notebook and a pen emblazoned with “Big Scoops.”

Baby John's Hopes & Dreams -- Walking
Baby John looked terribly cute with his Hopes & Dreams Hat. His hope and dream for the new year is, of course, to walk.
I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!

We’ve had a bit of “stay-cation” here in our house this week. JK’s been off work and we planned a few “fun” outings to coffee shops and bookstores. Most important we planned to have quiet afternoons reading, which meant I have been able to get a lot of “fun” knitting and spinning done. It’s amazing all the things you can do when you have an extra pair of hands to help with the wee babes!

I’m almost done with Baby John’s Christmas stocking. Yes, I know. I missed getting it done by Christmas. But I did get a cute sweater made for him. He really needed some bigger sweaters to wear, so I thought getting the sweater done was more important.

I am also working on a crochet mitt pattern. Aren’t they cute? I’m almost done with it. My two sisters are going to test crochet them for me. I need to add lace and some velvet ribbon to the wristband and then they will be complete.
Tonight at midnight I start my project for the new year – Knitting Zimmermann. I’m excited and nervous. I still can’t get over the fact that there are 133 knitters joining me on this knitting quest.
